Committee's Purpose

The purpose of the Literature Committee is to encourage the knowledge and use of all material published by Alcoholics Anonymous World Services. The Committee keeps the District informed concerning changes or additions to all literature and maintains a display of AA approved literature to share at District and Group events. In addition, the Literature committee considers and makes suggestions regarding proposed additions to and changes in Conference-approved literature and audiovisual material. The Committee encourages the purchase of AA literature from Intergroup.

Mission Statement

The Literature Committee and Area Grapevine and Literature committee maintains a comprehensive literature display, purchased from G.S.O. and Grapevine, Inc., for a portable display and is available to take this display to various service workshops, quarterlies and the Area Assembly. The committee function is to inform groups, district and the area assembly, through this display and other suitable methods, of all available Conference approved literature, audiovisual material and other special items. We sponsor at least one Area-wide workshop each year that is currently combined with the other standing committees. Literature is available for sale when necessary, but we will not infringe, on the responsibility of the groups and districts to provide literature or compete with local central offices. We will consider suggestions regarding proposed additions or changes to Conference-approved literature and audiovisual material and encourage A.A. members to read and purchase A.A. Conference approved literature.
